Default Whole House System needing a special filter

I'm having a difficult time finding a filter or whole house system that deals with our unique problem.
We get our water off the roof & store in a containment tank. Also, we burn wood via a woodstove, so there is a stack on our roof. We get a creosote taste in the water, and want to know what system filters that taste? From the study I have done, a coconut carbon filter is the only one that specifically addressed that problem. We currently only collect water after a day of rain has washed the roof and smoke stack off.......and do not burn in the stove when we are collecting roof water. This certainly helps. Please give me any useful advice you can.

Default Re: Whole House System needing a special filter

You are correct that you will want a coconut carbon filter. The following filters are all coconut carbon filters:
CBC-20BB, CBC20-BB water filter and Pentek CBC-20BB carbon water filters 155312 for wholehouse water treatment
EP-20BB, EP-20BB filters and Pentek EP20-BB carbon water filter cartridge 155583 for 20 inch big blue housings
EPM-20BB, EPM-20BB filter and Pentek EPM20-BB water filters 155783 carbon block filter for chlorine reduction.
These are all the 20" Big Blue size (20" x 4.5") Any of those could be used in a whole house system. Many of our customers install a sediment filter prior to the carbon filter. The sediment filters are less expensive than the carbon filters. If you use a sediment filter, that will allow the more expensive carbon filters to be effective longer. You may see the sediment filters at Whole House Big Blue Water Filters and 20 Inch Big Blue Sediment Filter and Drinking Water Filter.

The system that you would use with these filters is a 20-BB. YOu can see or purchase this system at 20 Inch Big Blue Whole House Water Filter Housing #20 from Ametek, USFilter, and Pentek. There are 3 different inlet/outlet sizes (3/4", 1", 1.5") so you will need to check your plumbing.

Thank you,
