| I am looking to install a whole house water filter system (pre filter and carbon in Big Blue 20"). I am currently on municipal water and am interested in removing chlorine. We have a house with 3 bathrooms. 1 full bath, 1 half bath with shower and 1 half bath with a sink and toilet. There are 8 people in the house. My question is about filtration. I noticed that the pre and carbon filter come in a variety of filter sizes; 1 micron, 5 microns, or 10 microns. What is the differences as it relates to flow rate and filter life? I am very interested in keeping a higher water pressure for showers, ensuring water is completely filtered of chlorine and that my filter costs are kept reasonable. Please let me know your thoughts. |

| A house of this size, particularly with the # of people in it will require something more robust like this: CHLOR-150DM-WF Metered Chlorine Reduction Backwash Water Filter This will provide 6-8 years of zero maintenance service with an excellent chlorine removal capacity. Using the 20" Big Blue housings you would need 2 housings in parallel in order to accommodate the kind of flow you will need and to still get chlorine removal. A single unit would allow for the flow, but it would exceed the prime rate for chlorine removal, and you would be wasting your $$. An automatic backwashing system is the only effective and economical way to go for your situation. Thank you, WaterFilters.NET |
