Water Filters made Easy At![]() |

| I'm interested in a whole house filter in my house. Are there any cases in which you recommend both a sediment filter and a carbon filter? And do the carbon filters filter the sediment and enhance taste? |

| You described it exactly as we recommend it. It is always best to have at lease 2 housings to accomplish the filtration. The housings will be these, 20 Inch Big Blue Whole House Water Filter Housing #20 from Ametek, USFilter, and Pentek The first housing will have a basic sediment filter like this DGD-5005-20 Water Filters and Pentek DGD500520 Sediment Filter for 20 inch Big Blue Whole House Housings and the second housing will have a carbon filter like this GAC-20BB drinking water filter and Pentek GAC20-BB water filters 155249 for 20 inch Big Blue whole house systems The sediment filter serves to extend the life of the more expensive carbon filter, that would live a much shorter life span if it had to remove sediment. The carbon filter does what carbon does best, reduce chlorine, and other dissolved gaseous contaminants. This will make the water in the entire home smell and taste much better. Then for the drinking and cooking water, you will want some additional filtration to really polish the water that is intended for consumption. For this you will want a point of use system with a dedicated drinking water faucet like this Pentek US-1500 Water Filter System with Electric Monitor and Pentek US1500 Under Sink Drinking Water or this PuROLine 5000 Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water System and PuROLine 5000 Replacement Filters Thank you, WaterFilters.NET |
