Default Re: GX05-10 vs GX30-10

The GX05-10 is 5 microns, and the GX30-10 is 30 microns. A micron is 1/1,000,000 of a meter. The smaller the # the tighter the filtration. However, tighter is not always better depending on the situation. If you have alot of large sediment, you will want a filter with a larger micron size that will capture large particles, followed by a second filter with a smaller micron size to capture the smaller particles. This is a very common setup. It shares the workload between 2 filters thus improving overall filtration, and decreasing the frequency of filter changes. If you don't have a high level of sediment, then a single filter around 5 microns will do a great job.

Thank you,
