Default How to configure my system

Here's the way the house is configured:

Hosebibs->Kitchen dedicated line->drinking water manifold
Water Main->
Other Waterlines

The reason the kitchen dedicated line is on the hosebibs is because this line was also not connected to the water softener (to avoid adding sodium to ingested water), but unfortunately this also means it would be skipped by the whole house partical filter(s).

Now, I have purchased 2 Kenmore Whole House 38448 (10" x 4.5") Intending to run these with 2 levels of partical filtration. and also a Kenmore 420 series Water softener (we have 19 grain water). I have a couple configuration options here:

Do I put the wholehouse filter on the entire house (including hosebibs) and then I only need a single carbon filter under the kitchen sink (which then goes to a manifold for coffee maker, icemaker, drinking water)

Or

Do I put the whole house AFTER the hosebib diversion, but then the kitchen line has no filtration, and would likely need a full 3 stage filter of it's own?

I don't do a large volume of watering/sprinkling, but I do some, so it would likely make me go through the partical filters a bit faster... maybe no big deal since watering season is short in Minnesota.

I guess a 3rd option would be to run one of the whole house filters on the main water line(perhaps 10 micron), then run the 2nd whole house under the kitchen sink (1 micron) and add a final carbon filter

I've decided to rule out an R/O system. For 1 I don't like all the wasted water, and have been reading that a) you need a carbon filter anyway, and b) with RO you remove some minerals that are trace elements your body wants/needs anyway.
