Default Which filter should I buy for a Whole house water filter system?

I am considering your Big Blue Whole House Water Filter system and I'm unsure which filter to buy. I'm considering the GAC-BB filter. Although I have an RO filter at the kitchen sink, I would like to have the better water at other locations, but I'm concerned that it may cause a reduction in flow. My RO system is a GE unit. Does the CBC-10 filter provide the same quality as the GE brand?

Whole house filters can reduce flow, as you fear. However, the bigger filters last much longer and have twice the flow rate. So, I'd recommend the 20 inch big blue, rather than the 10 inch big blue. This would generally give high enough flow rate, although you can double check the specs and manuals yourself on this page if you would like.

I wouldn't recommend the CBC series for your whole house because it will slow the flow rate more.

These whole house filters remove taste and odor, much like one of the filters in your RO system. However, your RO system goes further and removes many contaminants. This requires extremely low flow rate, which is why your RO system has a tank to build up water.

In other words, you are doing the right thing by trying to improve all of the water in your house a little bit, while not trying to filter out all contaminants, which would reduce your flow too much.

If you're on a well, we have other suggestions.

Let me know if you have other questions.
