| The best way is to follow the filter change schedule. The sediment filters fill up with sediment and restrict the flow through the filter so they are usually easy to spot when they need changing. There are TDS meters for testing the membrane to see when that needs to be replaced. Liquatec TDS Meter PM-3000 to Monitor Total Dissolved Solids with a Handheld TDS Meter Reverse Osmosis Inline TDS Meter to Monitor Total Dissolved Solids in RO System Water. | A sure sign that a water filter cartridge needs replacing is a sudden drop in water pressure. If you don't replace your filter regularly and the water still makes it through, you may be drinking water full of impurities that came from a clogged filter! |

| He doesn't have an ionzer. How can he change filters for an ionizer he doesn't have? Are we missing something here? |

| too bad some of the modern filters are sealed units that you actually cant see whether the filter is set to be changed or not. Guess when you have to change the filter all depends on your water usage, as I see most have indicative volumes..but if the filters' interior were visible, would solve a lot of problems?? |
