Default Merlin falls a little flat.

Okay,
I just finished my install on the Merlin system. I flushed new membranes for 3 hours, but the taste of the water is still very disappointing.
I live in the Bahamas, and there is no shortage of good drinking water where I live, but I simply wanted my own system so as not to have to continue paying the dealer/s, and having the advantage of making my own water.
I installed the post carbon filter for the last half hour or so, but the taste is not what I was hoping for.
Bear in mind that the bottled water available here has a very fresh, clean taste to it - similar to rain water - whereas the Merlin is producing something just a tad better tasting than tap water. (I have my own well.)
The bottled water dealers use RO and UltraViolet. Could that be my problem? Do I need the UltraViolet?
I would really appreciate any input.
Thanks.
