Default Reverse Osmosis Systems Always Plastic?

Are there any Reverse Osmosis Systems where the water is not exposed to plastic?

Not likely. The plastic used for RO systems is almost always HDPE, because of the incredible solvent action of RO water. If they used the LDPE plastic, RO water would eat the water lines.
