Foul Chemical Smell and Taste

When I replaced my water filter cartridge ( Pentek CBR2-10R Lead Reduction Filter) a few days ago, there was a foul chemical smell and bitter taste. My water entering without the filter does not have this odor. I flushed it initially 10 to 15 minutes and it still sounds like there is air trapped inside. Any suggestions? We have had this system for quite awhile now and have never had any problems until now. It stands alone and is not part of a system. Please advise.

Sometimes it just take a little extra while to flush out the filter.

Flushed it out for like 30 min it will definatley help
