| Hello, I just purchased a Culligan EZ-Change Under-Sink - Level 4 Monitored MTBE Filtration System. I was wondering if this type of filter also removes the beneficial trace minerals that people say are important for good health? I have read that RO or distillation will remove trace minerals, which causes your body to "pull" needed minerals out of your bones, etc, which doesn't sound good. Thanks for any response. Mike |

| The replacement cartridges for the EZ-4 remove the following contaminants: Bad taste & odor Chlorine taste & odor Sediment Lead Cysts such as cryptosporidium & giardia Turbidity Atrazine Lindane VOC MTBE Chloramines Level 4 Basic Filtration You are correct that reverse osmosis systems and distillers can take out good things as well as bad things from water. We tend to think that it is a good thing to remove all unnatural elements in H2O. The trace minerals in water can easily be replaced by supplements or vitamins, which is more healthy then drinking unfiltered water and hoping for the slight benefit of some trace minerals. In any case, you don't need to worry about that with your system because you have a standard undersink unit and not a distiller or reverse osmosis system. Any questions? Thanks, WaterFilters.NET |
