Default Bold growing in Brita Water Pitcher

I use a Brita water filter. With my last batch of cartridges, used in two different pitchers, I've gotten what looks like mold growing at the bottom of the pitcher. I've never had this problem before. What might be the cause?

You should always store the pitcher in a refrigerator. If the pitcher is left out, there's a possibility mold could grow.
