Default Pentek Chloramine Filter

Im interested in installing the Pentek Chloramine filter. I have municipal water & am wondering if I really need a sedement pre-filter. We use about 29,000 gallons of water a year. I don't currently have any sedement problems that I know of, no staining of clothes from washer. We have a 3/4 main supply line.

Default Re: Pentek Chloramine Filter

The Pentek Chloramine Filter is located here:
Pentek CRFC-BB chloramine reduction water filters and CRFCBB water filter cartridge 355056 - 10" long by 4.5" wide

Pentek CRFC-20BB chloramine reduction water filters and CRFC20-BB water filter cartridge 155967 - 20" long by 4.5" wide

It needs to be installed in a housing such as this one:
Culligan HD-950 10 inch Big Blue Whole House Water Filter System from Ametek, USFilter, and Pentek - This is the housing for the 10" long filter. It comes in the 3/4" inlet/outlet. You'll need the HD-950-34.

20 Inch Big Blue Whole House Water Filter Housing #20 from Ametek, USFilter, and Pentek - This is the housing for the 20" long filter. It comes in the 3/4" inlet/outlet. You'll need the 20-BB-34.

I would recommend getting a sediment pre-filter because it keeps the chloramine filter from clogging up. If you don't have a sediment pre-filter, you will have to replace the chloramine filter more often. The sediment filters are a lot cheaper than the chloramine filter so it pay for itself pretty quickly to have the prefilter. Anything under 40 microns you can't see and the sediment prefilter can filter down to 5 microns or so. There is a lot of sediment even in city water that you can't see.

Here are the ones I would recommend:
DGD-5005 Sediment Water Filter and Pentek DGD5005 Water Filters for 10 inch Big Blue Whole House Housings - This is for a 10" housing.

DGD-5005-20 Water Filters and Pentek DGD500520 Sediment Filter for 20 inch Big Blue Whole House Housings - This is for a 20" housing.

Thank you,
