| Bag filters are usually used in situations requiring high flow rates, but they can be used in a variety of situations. Regular polypropylene bags are only about 60% efficient at removing the particle size they are designed for, but Nylon bags are better at 80%, and there is a high efficiency polypropylene bag that reaches 98% efficiency. Depending on your situation you will want to choose accordingly. It is very common to have 2 or 3 housings in series with successively smaller micron filters in each housing to do a really good job of filtering. If you were to use just one 1 micron bag, it would clog very rapidly, because it's capturing every size particle, but if you had a 50 micron followed by a 10 micron, followed by a 1 micron, each filter is going to live much longer because it's only filtering a very narrow range of particle size. This is the best way to set up a system. Here is a link to our bag housings page, and if you scroll down you will find the filter bags also. | Bag filters are what they sound like, a bag used to filter fluids. They come in many materials, sizes and filtration rates. These filters are most commonly gravity feed. They can generally be found for under $5.00 each. There are numerous sources for bag filters, just search for them on the Internet. ----------------------- ages viral marketing |

| Bag filters are in general frequently used for dust removal in industrial applications. The flow can be from the outside to the inside of the filter (that means, the separation of particles happens on the external surface of the filter) or the other way around, depending on the application. The particles are normally captured on the internal surface of the bag filter. Bag filters are in general not designed for replacement when they are clogged, but some bag filters for gaseous applications like dust removal can be cleaned, for example by mechanical shaking or by backwashing with compressed air (so called reverse-flow bag filters). Bag filters are mostly surface-type filters. |
