The D-10 is far too small a filter media for a whole house filtration system. There are other filters of that size that I could recommend, but the truth is that you need a larger filter housing capable of using larger filter media designed for whole house filtration. You need this:
20 Inch Big Blue Whole House Water Filter Housing #20 from Ametek, USFilter, and Pentek with this for a cartridge:
RFC-20BB water filter and Pentek RFC20-BB carbon filters 155247 with granular activated carbon
Unfortunately I see this frequently, but the 10" x 2.5" filter size was never designed for whole house filtration. In 95% of situations, it's too small to handle the entire volume of water for the whole home.
