I have not heard of the problem you are referencing. You must have very high pressure.

Here are some stainless steel systems that will hold up to higher pressures like what you are facing.

Stainless Steel Commercial Water Filter Systems from Pentek ST Series Housings
You could put a D-40 filter in the 10 inch long system. (Culligan D-40 replacement filter and Culligan D40 under sink water filter) The D-40 will give you very good filtration, which is similar filtration to what you would get from the IC-1000.
