I have not heard of the problem you are referencing. You must have very high pressure.

You could put a D-40 filter in the 10 inch long system. (
Culligan D-40 replacement filter and Culligan D40 under sink water filter) The D-40 will give you very good filtration, which is similar filtration to what you would get from the IC-1000.
